Even though National Kiss Day is celebrated worldwide on July 6th we figured why not make today, September 8th, National Kiss Day. As in “I want to rock n’ roll all night and party everyday” Kiss. What better way to celebrate today by watching the greatest made-for-TV movie ever made, Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park. After NBC aired this gem on October 28, 1978, the members of Kiss made their hatred for this film publicly know by stating that it made them look like fools. Keep in mind that Hanna-Barbera, who produced the movie, is the the same company who brought us Yogi Bear, The Smurfs, and The Jetsons. So you can understand why Kiss would be upset as being portrayed as “cartoony” in this very heart-felt adventure about meeting a phantom in an amusement park. At least Kiss can be thankful they weren’t stealing any pic-a-nic baskets. Imagine the damage it would have done to the serious image the band spent so many years perfecting.
