Misflix Best of the Best 2011

2011 was a year filled with big-budget comic book movies, J.J Abrams paying homage to Speilberg’s Amblin films and what else – remakes and reboots.  And they all fell short of greatness.  In fact, the closest they got to was, “Well I didn’t hate that movie.”  If an alien race had to determine whether or not they were going to destroy mankind based on those films – we’d be fucked.  But here’s a list that would ensure the survival of the human race, that is, until we kill ourselves with pollution, war and Justin Bieber.  Here is the list for the Misflix Best of the Best 2011:

6) Puncture

Reasons to Watch:  Soundtrack; based on a true story.

Reasons to Watch:  Will Ferrell; makes you wish you could sell everything you own.

4) 50/50

Director:  Jonathan Levine
Starring:  Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard
Reasons to Watch:  Soundtrack; an honest portrayal of someone dealing with cancer.

3) Super

Director: James Gunn
Starring: Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon
Reasons to Watch:  The Holy Avenger; The Crimson Bolt; Boltie.

2) Hesher

Director: Spencer Susser
Starring: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Devin Brochu, Rainn Wilson, Natalie Portman.
Reasons to Watch:  HESHER!!!

1) Drive

Director:  Nicolas Winding Refn
Starring:  Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Albert Brooks.
Reasons to Watch:  Scorpion jacket; soundtrack; violently beautiful.
