We can try and put a positive spin on September 11 but in reality, it was an awful day. The country had no idea how to react to such a devastating attack on U.S. soil. I remember I had the day off from work and all I did was sit and watch coverage in my apartment…the entire day. I couldn’t even escape to watch a movie because everything was shut down. I’m sure it was like this for many Americans – sitting at home trying to figure out what was going on.
The feeling after 9/11 was that everyone felt like in order to move on, they had to forget. Which is ironic since “Never Forget” became the unofficial motto for 9/11. All of the major movie studios decided to take out any reference of the WTC in movies that were going to be released that year. It felt like something straight out of Eternal Sunshine of the Spoltess Mind.
But here we are as a nation 11 years later and personally I want to watch those movies that had the WTC removed. I woke up this morning and I couldn’t stop thinking about this trailer for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. I can’t give you a specific reason and even if I did, it probably wouldn’t make much sense to you. I just know that I wanted to share it and hopefully you can get some enjoyment out of it as well.
